Hand-painted folding "sensu" fabric fan "Bird on Sakura"

• I painted a blue bird on a blooming sakura on the fan
• My inspiration was a 19th-century Japanese wood painting from the National Gallery in Prague's collections
  
• Depictions of various birds are a very popular motif in Japanese painting
  

About folding "sensu" fans:

• the unfolded fan is approximately 38 cm wide
• the fan has a carved bamboo structure covered with fabric (polyester)
• I hand-painted the motif on the fan using textile paints
  
• the fan is compact, you can easily carry it in your handbag and have it at hand anytime
• because the fan is made of fabric and not paper, it folds and unfolds easily, and you don't have to worry about it creasing with handling
