• I painted magnolia flowers on the fan
• magnolia is associated with the emperor in Japan. It was a great honor if the monarch gifted someone a magnolia bush
• in Japan, its scent is believed to induce romantic dreaming and love

About folding "sensu" fans:

• the unfolded fan is approximately 38 cm wide
• the fan has a carved bamboo structure covered with fabric (polyester)
• I hand-painted the motif on the fan using fabric paints
  
• the fan is compact, you can easily take it in your handbag and have it ready anytime
• because the fan is made of fabric, not paper, it folds and unfolds well, and you don't have to worry about it creasing from handling
