• I painted bamboo branches on the fan
• bamboo is part of various Japanese celebrations like Tanabata
• in Japan, it is believed that bamboo groves ward off evil spirits and bring good luck
• the depiction of bamboo is a very popular motif in Japanese painting

About round "uchiwa" fans:

• the fan is approx. 24 cm wide and 38 cm long (including the handle)
• the fan has a sturdy bamboo frame covered on both sides with paper
• I hand-painted the motif on the fan with acrylic paints and ink
  
• it is a traditional Japanese fan called "uchiwa"

About fan painting:

• I hand-paint on fans, so each product is original
• the resulting image may differ slightly from the photograph
• I paint with acrylic paints and ink
• I have fixed the colors with clear matte varnish for greater durability
