The dragon together with the phoenix are symbols of yin and yang. The dragon represents the masculine element (yang) and the phoenix the feminine element (yin).

Together, the dragon and phoenix symbolize balance (water dragon and fire phoenix).

The Japanese dragon is associated with water and brings prosperity and good fortune. The phoenix, known as "Hō-ō" in Japanese mythology, is a symbol of peace, renewal, and eternal life.
