ABOUT THE ANIME SWORDS COLLECTION

Weapons from various anime series have been a subject of my artwork since the beginning of my creative journey many years ago. It started with Bleach, Trigun, and Soul Eater. I painted them by hand on silk scarves or ties, and of course, on mugs.
My eldest son gradually joined my hobby, giving me several tips on interesting series I didn't know. And so, the idea for a new collection was born, featuring swords from eight different anime series.
In this collection, you'll find porcelain decorated with reproductions of my sword pen drawings. Of course, there are also pillows, scarves, and other textile products. The fabric is cotton sateen (extremely pleasant to the touch) and is Czech-made. I chose a light blue background for the swords, which really complements them beautifully. And I also prepared a bunch of paper trinkets. What do you say to a temporary tattoo with a katana, for example?

Can you identify all the swords?
Try to identify all 8 swords from 8 different anime!
Not sure about some of them? Check out the continuation of the article, where you'll also learn interesting facts associated with them.

SPOILER ALERT!
Which manga or anime did I choose the swords from?
BLEACH
Choosing one sword from Bleach was so difficult! So many interesting sword shapes and their abilities. Plus, it's one of my first anime (along with Naruto). So there's a lot of nostalgia there. I finally chose Ichigo Kurosaki's.
Ichigo's sword – zanpakutō – is named Zangetsu, which means "Slaying Moon".
Zangetsu is unusual in that its basic form (shikai) looks like a large sword without a guard – it immediately took on a "permanent" released form. This indicates Ichigo's extraordinary power, as most shinigami have a normal katana as their base.
As the story progresses, Zangetsu also changes, but I chose its "basic" form.
For a long time, Ichigo thought his sword (Zangetsu) was one spirit – a man in a coat and glasses. Later, it turns out that this was also his inner Quincy origin, and the true spirit of Zangetsu was his inner Hollow.
Zangetsu is unique in that it contains the abilities of Shinigami, Quincy, Hollow, and human. Because of this, his zanpakutō functions differently from other characters'.

NARUTO
Naruto is my top anime. The first anime (not counting Pokémon) that started my whole love for Japan. And again, there are so many interesting swords in this series! But I also wanted to include some funny pieces in the collection, so this shark disguised as a sword was a clear choice!
Samehada literally means "shark skin".
It's not just a weapon – it's a living being that chooses its own master.
Its main ability is to drain chakra from enemies, which makes it extraordinarily powerful against ninjas – it can "suck out" their source of power. It then transfers the absorbed chakra to its master – healing them or replenishing their energy.
It is one of the seven legendary swords that belonged to elite ninjas from the Hidden Mist Village.
Samehada worked with Kisame, a member of Akatsuki. However, if it likes an enemy's chakra, it can change loyalty. This happened to Kisame when Samehada sided with Killer Bee because his chakra was tastier (and stronger).

BERSERK
Berserk is considered one of the most influential and admired titles in manga history. And the main character Guts, who owns the sword, is not a classic hero. He symbolizes the indomitable human will of a warrior who always moves forward, no matter the circumstances.
Guts' giant sword is called Dragonslayer.
Author Kentarō Miura created it as an antithesis to traditional fantasy swords – it does not appear noble, but brutal and crude.
The sword is literally soaked with the essence of demons and other similar creatures. So much so that beings from the Astral Plane can see it, making it an effective weapon against supernatural forces. Dragonslayer has become so exceptional that it is capable of affecting astral bodies, and thus truly killing demons, which a normal weapon cannot do.
Dragonslayer was forged by the blacksmith Godot originally only as a test – no one was supposed to be able to use it. Guts was the only one who could effectively wield the sword due to his superhuman strength and technique, gained from countless battles.

INUYASHA
Inuyasha is one of the classic anime of the "noughties" (i.e., after 2000). The manga and anime are a mix of historical fantasy, romance, and horror, set in two time periods – modern Japan and 15th-16th century Japan.
Inuyasha's sword is named Tessaiga – "iron fang" or "crushing tooth". The sword is made from the tooth of Inuyasha's father, a powerful dog demon.
It serves as protection for Inuyasha, who is half-demon, to prevent him from losing his humanity. When Inuyasha holds it, it prevents him from succumbing to demonic madness.
Tessaiga initially appears as an old rusty sword. It only transforms into a massive golden sword with a sickle-shaped blade when Inuyasha finds the strength and willingness to protect. Its power gradually increases as Inuyasha's maturity and empathy grow.
If Inuyasha relies too much on power, Tessaiga can gain a demonic appearance and grow even larger – with spikes and a "bloody" sheen. This is a warning that excessive aggression can consume him – but if he controls it, he gains both power and calm simultaneously.
Tessaiga is not just a weapon for killing, but primarily a weapon for protection – of people, friends, and Inuyasha himself. It is a father's legacy, symbolizing the love between a demon and a human (Inuyasha's mother).

ONE PIECE
This manga (and anime) is, of course, a must-have. And this time, I chose a classic katana. And one of those that belong to Roronoa Zoro.
Zoro uses a unique three-sword style (Santoryu): two katanas in his hands and one in his mouth. Zoro invented this fencing style himself as a child, and it became his trademark.
Wadō Ichimonji (Sword of the Oath) belonged to Zoro's childhood friend. After her death, Zoro swore to become the greatest swordsman, honoring her.
Sandai Kitetsu is a cursed sword that "attracts death." Zoro acquired it in Loguetown when he tested his luck – he threw the sword in the air and stood in its path. The sword missed him, convincing the seller that the sword had "accepted" him.
Shusui is a black katana that Zoro acquired after defeating the legendary samurai Ryuma.
Enma is a legendary sword that previously belonged to Kozuki Oden, the only person capable of harming Kaido. This sword automatically draws Haki from the user – therefore, only someone who can fully control their strength can master it. Enma replaced Shusui.
In the One Piece world, swords have their own personalities, and if they are too strong or wild, they may "disobey" their owner. Zoro must tame and adapt to the strength of his swords, not just swing them around – this is a fundamental element of his training, especially with Enma.

SOUL EATER
Soul Eater is an anime where weapons have their own personalities and can also transform into human characters. Their wielder must be on the same wavelength with them to fight effectively together. From this anime, I chose the second of the "funny" swords – the screeching and tyrannical Ragnarok, who torments poor Crona.
Ragnarok was artificially created by the witch Medusa, who infused it with black blood. Thanks to this, it has abilities that normal weapons do not – e.g., absorbing attacks or regeneration.
Even in sword form, Ragnarok has its own body and head, which often "pops out" of Crona's body. It constantly bothers him, slaps him, or screams in his ear. Ragnarok does not act as an ally, but rather as a tyrant. It constantly humiliates and stresses Crona, worsening his psychological state.
Ragnarok can create destructive sound waves, unleashing a loud scream that has the reach of a powerful explosion and vibrates the surroundings.
Its name comes from Norse mythology – Ragnarok means "doomsday" or "end of the gods." This refers to its destructive potential and the destructive influence on its partner's soul. In the story, it embodies toxic relationships, mental breakdown, and manipulation.

DEMON SLAYER
Demon Slayer is one of the most popular anime of the last decade. It boasts top-notch animation with intricately crafted fight scenes. I chose a sword whose shape I really like; it's a katana, but with a wavy blade.
Obanai Iguro is a Hashira with a unique fighting style, and his Nichirin sword is as unusual as he is. Adapted to his Serpent Breathing, his sword reflects a serpentine aesthetic and function.
Obanai's sword is wavy, resembling a serpent's body. It allows him to mimic the twisting and unpredictable movements of a snake. He often attacks from sides and angles that his opponent doesn't expect.
The weapon is very difficult to wield, but Obanai uses it with absolute precision thanks to his training and natural talent.
Obanai fights alongside his white snake named Kaburamaru, who often coils around his neck or sword. Interestingly, Kaburamaru helps Obanai in battle – mainly with orientation, as Obanai is blind in one eye.

SWORD ART ONLINE
An anime that has "sword" in its name must, of course, be included. I chose the main character Kirito's black sword, Elucidator, which became a symbol of the entire first season.
Kirito did not acquire Elucidator through a normal purchase or crafting – it dropped as a rare item after defeating a boss in the middle floors of Aincrad.
Elucidator is entirely black with a silver blade and a subtle guard. Its simplicity contrasts with its power – pure, deadly, and fast. It suits Kirito, nicknamed the "Black Swordsman."
Kirito was the only player in SAO who could use two weapons simultaneously due to a system that automatically granted this ability to the one with the fastest reflexes. Elucidator in the right hand + Dark Repulser in the left = a deadly combo.
The weapon is so rare that its repair was only possible by a few blacksmiths. Even Lisbeth, a renowned blacksmith, had trouble finding material to create Kirito's second sword (Dark Repulser) to complement Elucidator.
