How to choose a gift for a Japan lover (when you don't know much about it)
Looking for a gift for your Japanophile friend?
Coming up with a gift for a loved one with a hobby doesn't have to be that difficult. But what if you don't personally understand that hobby very well?
You don't want to rely on trinkets from Temu or Aliexpress, and ordering something directly from Japan takes too long?
Try original products from HA-NA-MI!
In my work, I strive to combine Czech quality with Japanese themes. All products are either hand-painted by me or feature reproductions of my illustrations.
1. Which motif to choose?
For nature lovers
Japan has beautiful nature, and Japanese gardens are simply breathtaking meditative places. If you have a flower lover or an admirer of picturesque scenery at home, choose from one of my many original collections with natural motifs.
Spring collection in a flood of pink Morning under the Sakura

Summer motif of Koi carp in Lake Jewels

Autumn collection Autumn Evening with colorful Japanese maples

Winter motif of the elegant Long-Lived Pine

But you'll find many, many more themed collections here.
For the minimalist
Are decorations just dust collectors for him, and is his home decorated in a minimalist style?
Then the collection Origami that isn't paper is perfect for him. Realistic reproductions of 2D two-color origami folds that you'll find on a practical mug or book cover.

Manga reader and anime viewer
If you're looking for a gift for a Japanese pop culture lover, the legend Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli won't disappoint. His films are a global phenomenon and have inspired me to paint several fanarts.
Totoro is (to put it simply) like the Japanese Little Mole :) – everyone knows him and he's an integral part of Japanese cultural heritage. Even for the younger generation.
Or something newer? How about Naruto and the nine-tailed fox demon Kyuubi no Kitsune?
Or perhaps the dragon Haku from Spirited Away?
And once we've chosen a motif, let's look at the specific item you can find it on.
2. Which product to choose?
A practical gift or something just for fun? Or both in one?
You'll find all sizes of mugs here, from 50ml for a quick morning espresso to 650ml giants for a proper cup of tea on long winter evenings.
Bowls of various shapes and sizes, not only for Japanese specialties.
Another interesting item is the chopstick rests made in a Czech porcelain factory. All with my original motifs.

Practical textile products are sewn directly in our studio.
You'll find book covers, pencil cases or cosmetic bags.
Scarves made of pleasant cotton satin can also be used for gift wrapping in Japanese style (furoshiki).

Elegant and cute jewelry made of mineral stones, Czech glass, and ceramics will delight both your niece and grandmother.

3. A custom-made gift
Are you interested in a specific motif, but didn't find it on the product you want to give?
Or do you know your celebrated person's favorite motif, which I don't offer?
Write to me and I will create a custom-made gift for your loved one. The completion time depends on the type of product, but it is never advisable to leave it until the last minute.
Estimated delivery times for custom products:
Porcelain – approx. 4 weeks
Jewelry – approx. 1 week
Textile products – approx. 1-2 weeks
Glass – products on the e-shop are only one piece, and I rarely have another exactly the same product available for painting. It always requires a longer discussion.
Other – various depending on the type of product
I would also be happy to paint your chosen motif on your own product. I have painted several vases, boxes, and even an entire tea set in this way.
